Look Your Best for Your Wedding Photographs

Your wedding photographs will serve as a lifetime reminder (and more) of your wedding day; it all starts with the bride and bridesmaids getting ready for most weddings I photograph.

I caught the moment above whilst the bride was having the finishing touches done to her hair before her big reveal to her parents who were excitedly waiting downstairs.

Over the years as a professional wedding photography specialist I have met lots of hair stylists and makeup artists so have put together some of their thoughts and ideas to help brides achieve the look they want for their wedding day. I also like to keep up with wedding trends and all things wedding related.

Bridal Beauty Prep for Your Wedding

I hear so much talk whilst brides are getting ready on their wedding day; it's no secret all brides (and bridesmaids) love a bit of pampering before the wedding day; think about this for a moment it extends the joy and fun in the months leading up to the big day. After all your wedding day is such a special occasion; a landmark in your life and quite likely the start of family life with your life partner.

Start Your Bridal Prep Early

From hair removal, and hair colouring to that gorgeous tone tanning will give, preparing your skin and fragrances, as a bride you'll want to feel and look your best on your dream wedding day.

Your Chosen Wedding Suppliers

What bride doesn't want to look like a supermodel on her wedding day, of all days, so make sure you set time aside for yourself in the lead up to your wedding. Put your trust in the companies and people you have/are choosing to provide the different services for your wedding day. Once you have briefed them all and listened to ideas you'll be confident your day will be in safe hands so your wedding day will run smoothly and be the wedding you have dreamed of. Trust me when I say time will fly by on the day.

Skin Care for the Bride

The time between 4 to 6 months before the date of your wedding is the time to max out on your beauty regime for your skin to glow, your nails to look great and your crowning glory, your hair, to be ready for your big day.

YouTube is an amazing resource for beauty treatments at home....I know time and work constraints may make home treatments, in the early days before your wedding, more convenient for you.

Cleanse tone and moisturise your skin every day, as a bare minimum, ideally you'll want to apply a face mask every week. You may prefer salon treatments if so how about starting off with a sumptuous facial each month in the lead up to your wedding day.

Bride's Hair - Her Crowning Glory

It may seem a long time before but think how you would like your hair to look at least 6 months before the big day; particularly if you're going for a change of hair style.

Bridal Hair Colour

If you’re toying with the idea of having your hair coloured for your big day, make your first appointment now and pencil in at least two more before your wedding date. I've been told that if you are looking to change the colour of your hair, bear in mind too much colour in one appointment can damage your hair.

A Change of Hair Style

If you are looking for a big change of style speak with your hair stylist at least 6 months before your wedding to make sure the style is right and may be fine tuned for the look you want to achieve.

Your Inspired Look

There's so much inspiration for hair style and colour both online and in wedding magazines so get a collection of photos together for your hair stylist to check out. Your hairdresser will let you know if the style and look you want is achievable for your hair type.

Bridal Makeup

Choose whether you want to do your own makeup or have your makeup done by a professional. If you go down the professional route this decision is best made several months before your wedding so you have a chance to work with your chosen makeup artist to achieve the look you want.

Look & Feel Your Best on Your Wedding Day

Your time is valuable as is regular exercise on a daily basis not just in the lead up to your wedding. Take care with your diet; there is so much information out there for us all to make sure you look and feel your best on the day and in the lead up to the day.

Good nutrition, a good exercise regime and good sleep together with you skin, nails and hair preparation will all come together to ensure you achieve the look you want for your walk down the aisle.
